Dr. Kate Partridge
Although I first began to meditate in the 1970’s, I didn’t practice it consistently until the early 1990’s when I was coping with the challenge of cancer. My daily practice of Mindfulness Meditation at that time did a remarkable job of helping me to become emotionally calm and stable in the face of extreme difficulties. I realized I wanted to learn how to teach it, and to promote the practice as widely as possible in any ways that I could.
In 1996, I founded a weekly meditation sitting group in London. In 1998, I organized the first of many annual 7-day silent meditation retreats through a non-profit group called Dharma Retreats. These retreats have continued every year for the past 19 years. (For information, go to www.dharmaretreats.ca )
I have been in clinical practice since 1984. Please click here to see the services that I offer.
In 2000, I began formal training in teaching meditation, with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts Medical School. In 2002, I received training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy from Dr. Zindel Segal and Dr. John Teasdale. In 2003 I began teaching 8-week courses in Mindfulness Meditation for Stress Reduction, as well as shorter workshops and seminars for corporations and non-profit groups. Since then, I have taught more than 25 8-week courses and presented many workshops and seminars for corporations and other groups.
